What
Uncut is About
Uncut
is all about discipleship, fellowship and fun for people
who are from 17 to early 20’s. Whether you have just
come to uni for the first time or you are halfway through,
you need good input and friends who are going to help you
walk with God in a real and honest way. On an average Uncut
night (not that there is ever an average night!) we share
life together, study the Bible, pray with each other, and
have a laugh.
Also, make sure that you get connected into a cell. Cells
meet once a month and are a great place to make really
close friends and to be encouraged in your walk with God.
Life with Uncut is so much more than a Sunday at church
so watch out for the parties, days away, nights out, meals
and sports that we do. |

Cassie
Law – 3rd Year
I love Destiny Church and I have gotten so much from being
a member of the church. Apart from church encouraging me
in my relationship with God, I have also found family, which
coming from a large family and studying in a new city, was
something that I really needed and was looking for. Anyone
who has ever left home for the first time knows that it can
difficult. For starters you have to do the simple living
on your own things‚ like cooking for yourself, doing
your own washing and learning how to manage your own finances.
I have found the church a real support in these challenges
and although no one has done my washing yet, I have been
grateful for and blessed by the hospitality, love, generosity,
and friendship extended towards me by many people, as well
as the practical help given to me.
Uncut is also cool because
I’ve found real friends
who I can just chill with, be myself with, be honest with,
and have a laugh with. Life, annoyingly, gets very serious
sometimes, so it’s great to have somewhere I can go
to unwind and be real with my friends.

Pharmacy – Final Year
I came to Glasgow from Malaysia so it is quite different!
There is a big cultural difference especially how things
operate here as opposed to at home. The weather is also
very different! People here are very friendly and nice,
and Glasgow is a good student city so it helps make life
easier because there are plenty of people who I can make
friends with. I don’t feel isolated at all. I went
to church in Malaysia and I’m glad that I am able
to be a part of Destiny whilst I am here. It really makes
me feel like I’m part of something and not just a
student. I’ve also really enjoyed getting to know
other students who are my age through going to Uncut.

Mechanical Engineering – 4th Year
I’ve been on quite a journey to get where I am today!
I have often found it tough at uni because for the first
couple of years that I was doing my degree I really wasn’t
enjoying it very much and it was very easy for me to get
distracted from studying! But I finally made it into third
year, after a second second year(!), and I have now started
to really enjoy my studies. When I came down to Glasgow,
my main concern was that I wanted to find a good church
and get involved. Thankfully I found Destiny quite quickly
and felt at home immediately. I got involved with serving
at church and started going along to the group that went
on to become Urban Lounge and now Uncut. I loved having
the opportunity to meet people on a Wednesday night in
Starbucks and build really good friendships. I remember
Wednesday nights being described like when you are swimming
and you get a chance to come up for air, and for me I have
always found that to be true.
